NAMSC runs several categories of motorsport including options for first timers and casual competitors in road registered vehicles, and racing categories for vehicles logbooked and meeting specific criteria.
Motorkhana events are typically held in the car park or on the skid pan at Hidden Valley. They comprise of courses laid out with witches hats and generally take 20 to 45 seconds to complete using first and sometimes reverse gear. Time penalties are incurred for knocking over witches hats and wrong directions. Road registered cars and other vehicles that pass a safety inspection are permitted to compete.
Lapsprint allows drivers to try their own vehicle on the Hidden Valley racing circuit. Cars are released onto the track at intervals and no racing against other vehicles is permitted. The intent is for drivers to have space around themselves on track to learn the track and their car, using lap timing to benchmark techniques. Road registered and race cars and other vehicles that pass a safety inspection are permitted to compete.
Circuit Racing allows for door-to-door racing by drivers with the required level of Motorsport Australia licence and a logbooked race car compliant with category regulations.
NAMSC facilitates Circuit Racing in four categories: Circuit Excel, HQ Holden, Commodore Cup and Improved Production.
