OFFICIATING

A CAMS Accredited Official is a great way to get involved in motor sport without being a competitor. Volunteer motor sport officials are the cornerstone and the support behind the scenes to ensure the safe and fair conduct of motor sport across all levels of competition.

As a CAMS Accredited Official you are in the thick of the action, right next to the competition surface if you wish. Your participation and access to some of the biggest events of the year is free! All it asks for is your time. As a relatively new official you may have the opportunity to officiate at the highest level working at national and international events.

Give it a go and join the team of over 11, 000 volunteers officials across Australia today.

Become a CAMS Accreditied Official

All new officials start off as a CAMS Trainee Official which requires them to work under direct supervision. Trainees are teamed with experienced officials and learn how to do most things on the job. As officials gain more experience they are given the opportunity to upgade to a CAMS General Official. A CAMS General Official is the minmum level to enable the official to branch out into other areas of officiating.

Once you’ve decided what type of event you would like to officiate at, or which categories of officiating you would like to attempt first, there are several options you may take. The best way of getting involved is to become a member of a CAMS affiliated car club. You can use the ‘club search function’ on this website to help you locate a club near you that runs motor sport interests in keeping with your own.

There are also a number of specialist officiating clubs which provide opportunities for new officials. To learn more about becoming a volunteer motor sport official, go to http://www.cams.com.au or talk to one of the NAMSC Officials at the track.

NAMSC follows stringent OH&S rules regarding racing and all cars and drivers are scrutineered according to CAMS regulations.

NAMSC would also like to thank the NT Chapter of the Patriot Motorcyle Club for its continued suppoert with officiating.
