Lapsprint is a local category designed to foster participation in Motorsport by allowing people to sample racing in there own road car. This class is aimed at giving potential members a taste of motor sport without having to buy a race car. Lapsprint is controlled as to the number of cars on the track at any one time and all cars are separated so no door to door racing occurs. Regulations are determined by NAMSC.

As with Lapsprint, Streetcar Shootout is a local category and is the next level of participation. It is run as a regularity event using road cars and having a season pointscore championship for those who wish to compete regularly at NAMSC events. Regulations are determined by NAMSC. Drivers nominate a lap time and results are based on the driver who is consistently closest to their nominated lap time. Lapsprint is controlled as to the number of cars on the track at any one time and all cars are separated so no door to door racing occurs
